TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Â Signing
FC Cincinnati have signed left back Tyrell Malacia through June 2027 with an option for the 2027-28 MLS season, the club announced Friday.Â
The 27-year-old former Netherlands international defender was a free agent and last played for English Premier League side Manchester United.
As part of the deal, Cincy sent $200,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) to St. Louis CITY SC for an international roster slot.
"We are excited to add a player of Tyrell's experience," said general manager Chris Albright. "He's played at the highest levels of the game and understands the demands of competing in those environments.
"His quality on the ball, defensive instincts and team-first mentality are a welcome addition to the group, and we’re happy to have him in Cincinnati."
A product of famed Dutch club Feyenoord, Malacia has also spent time on loan at rivals PSV Eindhoven and accumulated nearly 200 senior club appearances in Europe.
Internationally, Malacia has nine caps for the Netherlands. He most recently featured for the Oranje during the 2023 UEFA Nations League finals and was on their squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
